The Leaside Business Park Association (LBPA) is hiring Student Outreach Ambassadors for a short-term paid summer role supporting local businesses during Ontario Line construction. This part-time role will support Phase Three of LBPA’s Transit Construction Mitigation project. Student Outreach Ambassadors will help visit and/or contact businesses in the Leaside Business Park area, collect updated business contact information, share information about the LBPA Traffic Alerts platform, and support local business visibility and communication.

The goal of this work is to help businesses stay informed, accessible, and connected during construction, while helping LBPA build a more complete and up-to-date business contact database. This role is a good fit for students who are professional, organized, comfortable speaking with business owners and staff, and interested in business, communications, urban planning, transportation, community engagement, local economic development, or public affairs.

Leaside Business Park Student Outreach Ambassador

Short-Term Summer Role

The Leaside Business Park Association (LBPA) is looking for Student Outreach Ambassador to support Phase Three of its Transit Construction Mitigation Fund project. This short-term summer role will support business outreach across the Leaside Business Park and surrounding area. The goal is to help local businesses stay informed, accessible, and visible during Ontario Line construction, while helping LBPA build a more complete and up-to-date business contact database.

Student Outreach Ambassador will conduct preliminary research in advance of scheduled outreach activities, then connect with local businesses through in-person visits and phone outreach. They will gather key business and operational contact information, introduce businesses to the Leaside Business Park Association (LBPA) and its Traffic Alerts platform, and help identify organizations that would benefit from additional engagement or follow-up. Through these efforts, Student Outreach Ambassador will play a key role in strengthening relationships within the local business community and expanding awareness of LBPA programs and services.

Key Responsibilities

As a Student Outreach Assistant, you will help strengthen connections between the Leaside Business Park Association (LBPA) and the local business community.

Responsibilities may include:
• Visiting local businesses in the Leaside Business Park and surrounding area
• Introducing the LBPA and explaining what the association is and how it supports businesses in the Park
• Confirming business name, address, operating status, and key contact information
• Identifying the best contact person for traffic, construction, delivery, or operational updates
• Explaining the LBPA Traffic Alerts platform and encouraging businesses to subscribe or share the link
• Distributing QR-code flyers and other outreach materials
• Collecting information through a Google Form
• Flagging businesses that require follow-up from LBPA or a board member
• Identifying businesses that may be interested in sharing LBPA updates with staff, customers, tenants, or neighbouring businesses
• Providing regular updates to the project manager
• Participating in a short training session and a pilot outreach phase before the full outreach period begins

Ideal Candidates

We’re looking for enthusiastic, outgoing individuals who enjoy connecting with people and making a positive impact in the local business community.

The ideal candidate is:
• A confident communicator who enjoys speaking with business owners, managers, and community members
• Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a post-secondary program
• Professional, friendly, dependable, and represents the LBPA with enthusiasm.
• Comfortable using Google Forms and Google Sheets
• Able to follow outreach instructions and accurately record information
• Comfortable walking, visiting businesses in person, and working independently or in pairs
• Available for short-term part-time work during July and August
• Interested in business, communications, urban planning, transportation, community engagement, economic development, public affairs, or a related field.
• Eager to gain valuable real-world experience in stakeholder engagement, community outreach, and professional relationship building.
• Previous outreach, customer service, retail, canvassing, community engagement, or administrative experience is helpful but not required.

Time Commitment

This is a short-term part-time summer role. The outreach period is expected to run approximately from July 13 to August 23, 2026. The estimated commitment is approximately 60–70 hours per student. The expected schedule is roughly 10 to 16 hours per week, with some flexibility depending on student availability, weather, business hours, and project needs.
Exact weekly hours will be confirmed with each selected student after a short training and pilot outreach phase.

Compensation

$25/hour.

Students will be paid based on approved hours worked. A simple hours summary or invoice may be required for payment, and instructions will be provided to selected candidates.
