Community Fundraiser BBQ Lunch – Friday October 4, 2019

News Items

In Memory of Peyman Masoomi Fard

It is with great sadness that we share the news that one of our team members, Peyman Masoomi Fard, a Quality Assurance Technician, was killed by a drunk driver in Richmond Hill on Sunday August 18th this year. This event is taking place as a fundraiser for Peyman’s wife and son, who were also in the car when Peyman was killed. We as a company, and community would like to do what we can to help this family. His wife has remained in the hospital since this crash, and has a long road ahead of recovery. This tragic event has affected us all deeply, as he was a friendly, helpful, hard-working member of our organization. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

You are cordially invited to attend this open invitation BBQ offered by Lincoln Electric Company of Canada at 179 Wicksteed Avenue, Toronto in our employee parking lot directly across the street from our factory. All funds raised will be given directly to Peyman’s family.

BBQ Lunch at Noon- 1:30 PM

179 Wicksteed Avenue (in parking lot on north side of Wicksteed)

A Raffle of Lincoln Electric items will also be held at this time, with all proceeds going to his family.

Yours very truly,

Beth Nealson Drive road work postponed to September after LBPA raises concern to Councillor Robinson

News Items

Based on swift action taken by the LBPA and with prompt support from Councillor Robinson, the watermain upgrade at Beth Nealson Drive has been postponed to September.

A pre-construction notice was sent by the city in May about the watermain replacement and road reconstruction planned for this summer – when Leslie street at Eglinton is also planned to be closed.  This would have strangled traffic into and out of the park.

The LBPA raised the issue to Councillor Robinson.  She immediately held a number of meetings with senior staff in the Transportation and Engineering and Construction Services divisions to relay our concerns with the potential traffic impacts this project would have if carried out at the same time as the Leslie Street closure.

After significant pressure from her office, Councillor Robinson advised the LBPA that commencement of this project will be delayed until September 3rd, 2019.

She thanked the LBPA for our engagement on this issue and to not hesitate to contact her with any further questions, concerns, or comments.
